There are other common rendering errors made by IE as well. If they do not go away, you can often trace the issue to one of "horizontal padding" (Google "broken box model"). (Be careful not to assume the extension is "BAD" because it doesn't validate with your template - the extension developer has no idea what you're going to do with your template, after all.)Īt any rate, when you get the template to validate, errors with IE often (not always) go away. some are easy to fix, others not so easy, some nearly impossible (at least for me) I am often forced to find different extensions that DO validate. I find it helpful to toggle certain modules off and on, re-validating in between each, to narrow the errors down to Joomla Specifics. Using the line numbers, you can deduce what element on your page is producing the errors. You can checkmark the box labeled "Show Source" under "More Options" and you will be shown the source code (the code your browsers "see") at the bottom of the Validator page. What you are seeing is the validator's count of errors in your code.
